Zadužbina Krsmanovića – Turski konzulat

The Krsmanović Foundation was built in 1865. year, and its construction was financed by the famous Serbian merchant family Krsmanović. The building is also known as “Dvorana”.

The ground floor of the building was intended for commercial warehouses and craft shops, while the rooms on the first floor were intended for housing. The house also had a spacious yard. The building was built in 1875. donated to the Orthodox Church Municipality of Brčko as an endowment of the married couple Ljubomir (Ljuba) and Olga Krsmanović.

The Krsmanović Foundation served as a student dormitory, a women’s vocational school and a kindergarten. After the consular agency from Tuzla was moved to Brčko in 1865. year, she settled in this building and stayed until the Austro-Hungarian occupation in 1878. years. Since 1878 until the end of the First World War, the consulate of the Ottoman Empire, better known as the Turkish Consulate, was located in this building.

The Krsmanović endowment was established in 1945. was nationalized in 2011 and a large number of families live in it.

The building of the former Turkish Consulate is on the Provisional List of National Monuments as part of the Srpska Varoš Ambient Complex.
