Kočić’s house is located in the residential area of Kolobara. It was built by the famous merchant Alija Kučukalić, who moved to Brčko from Čačak (Serbia) between 1890 and in 1907 years. The house typologically corresponds to an Austro-Hungarian villa, built in an eclectic – pseudo-Moorish style. This expression is characterized by the use of rich ornamentation and decorative-plastic elements on the facades, for which models were sought most often in North Africa and in Spain during the Moorish era.
The Kočić House was built as a free-standing building in a garden with tall trees and flowers. The dimensions are 12.00 x 14.30 meters, with a ground floor and a first floor. The basic structural elements are the walls, and 50 cm thick bricks were used for their construction. The mezzanine construction is made of wood. The staircase is stone, and the stair railing is iron. The roof is hipped, with a steep slope of more than 35 degrees, with a classic wooden structure, covered with tiles.
The villa consists of two four-room apartments with exactly the same layout. One room was furnished as a parlor, with rich carpeting, polished mirrors, satin upholstery, and gilt furniture.
The Kočić House was declared a national monument of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The exterior of the building was renovated in 2022. years.
