Mountaineering Society “Njivice”
The Mountaineering Society “Njivice” was founded in 2013, with its headquarters in Bijela, Brčko District of Bosnia and Herzegovina. It brings together young people from this part of the District with the aim of preserving awareness of the protection of the natural beauty of Mount Majevica.
The association offers the following facilities:
- four marked hiking trails, ranging from easy to moderate difficulty, also suitable for mountain biking
- visits to numerous caves and natural mountain springs
- children’s playground
- sports grounds (volleyball, five-a-side football)
- visits to Gradaščević’s Tower, built in the late 18th century
- visits to the gallery of the Franciscan Monastery in Dubrave
- visits to the archaeological site Zidine in Gornja Skakava
Private accommodation is currently available, and the facilities owned by the association include:
- the mountain shelter “Plava Ljepotica”
- the mountain lodge “Kasper”, currently under construction
In the immediate vicinity, visitors can find restaurants offering traditional specialities, as well as the well-known Arizona Market, with numerous amenities.
