The 10-kilometre athletics race, organised every year as part of the Vidovdan celebrations from 25 to 28 June, was first held in 1996. The race attracts some of the world’s best male and female athletes.

In addition to the official 10K race, the Vidovdan race is widely known for its children’s programme, which gathers around 5,000 children each year. The event traditionally begins with a 10-metre baby crawling race, followed by the most popular “Ladybug Races” for children aged 2 to 4, as well as the Ciciban and Pioneer races, with race lengths adapted to different age groups.

Since 2002, the Vidovdan race has been included in both European and world athletics calendars, and in 2004 it was officially admitted to AIMS (Association of International Marathons and Distance Races).
