Town Hall

The City Hall building is located in the center of the city in an architectural complex with a park, the hotel building “Posavina” and the office building of the Zemaljska banka.

The town hall was built in the period from 1890. until 1892 years.

The entire composition of the building was conceived according to the principle of strict symmetry with a central, more prominent riser and two smaller corner risers. In this way, the horizontal and vertical division of the facade surface is ensured. This principle, apart from symmetry as one of the characteristics of classical architecture or the later Neo-Renaissance, also suggests the usual breakdown of dimensions of Ottoman-Turkish architecture.

The dimensions of the building are 37.50 x 14.45 meters, while the dimensions of the side elevations are 5.00 x 5.00 meters. The width of the central riser is 11.20 meters and it is thrown out 1.20 meters from the plane of the wall, while the side risers are thrown out by 45 cm. The central elevation is divided vertically into three equal belts, in the shafts of which there are window openings, which are also located on the side elevations. The side elevations end with a roof in the form of a horseshoe dome. The town hall has a basement, ground floor and first floor.

The City Hall houses the Mayor’s Office and the hall for holding sessions of the Government of the Brčko District of Bosnia and Herzegovina. It has been a town hall since 2013. open to all visitors.

The town hall was declared a national monument of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
